:: SGS Awarded Operational Contract for Endeavour Mining On-site Laboratory
SGS has been awarded the operational contract for the on-site laboratory at Endeavour Mining Corporation’s Agbaou greenfields project situated ±200 km northwest of Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. SGS will design, equip and operate the laboratory to provide sample preparation and analysis in support of mining and processing. This 5 year operational contract was awarded to SGS in the 1st quarter of 2013. Operational commissioning of the on-site laboratory is expected to begin during Q3 2013.
The new Ivorian laboratory has been designed to service Endeavour’s Agbaou Gold Mine by providing critical data to guide site activities. It is scheduled to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and its scope of operations will include sample preparation and determination of gold by aqua regia. In this country, SGS also currently runs an on-site laboratory in Tongon and a sample prep laboratory in Yamoussoukro.
SGS is well recognized in the laboratory testing sector and this new facility reflects a commitment to ensuring that all services are accessible to all of their clients. SGS operates on-site and near-site laboratories in some of the most remote locations in the world, regardless of the temperature, the altitude or how high volume the program. SGS’ unequalled experience in remote laboratories ensures smooth start-up and operation.
The Agbaou facility complements SGS’ unmatched laboratory network in Africa and globally. SGS operates over 150 commercial, on-site and Mobile Sample Preparation Unit (MSPU) geochemical laboratories, 12 metallurgical facilities, 5 mineralogy facilities, over 120 energy minerals labs, 33 fertilizer labs and 80 trade offices.
