:: SGS Minerals Services expands with new Quantitative Mineralogy Alliance SGS Minerals Services, the world leader in metallurgical testing, design and process control, is pleased to announce a strategic global alliance in automated process mineralogy with the Australian firm Intellection. This alliance paves the way for the creation of an SGS Advanced Mineralogy Service Centre in Lakefield that will house new QEMSCANTM instrumentation which will be provided and supported by Intellection. In Australia, SGS Minerals Services will supply QEMSCANTM services from a similar Service Centre located in Intellection’s Brisbane facility. The synergies that arise from the combination of expertise and technical excellence will benefit mining sector clients around the globe. SGS Minerals Services has extensive experience with QEMSCANTM, having applied this technology to a wide range of commodities and applications since 1999. QEMSCANTM analysis is faster, more statistically robust and more cost effective than optical mineralogy. The comprehensive data generated is used in bankable feasibility studies, ore characterisation programs and provides key information to help improve operational performance and metal recovery in producing mines. Intellection has over thirty years of experience in automated quantitative evaluation and in the invention and refinement of QEMSCANTM minerals analysis technology. SGS is the global leader and innovator in inspection, verification, testing and certification services. Founded in 1878, SGS is recognized as the global benchmark in quality and integrity. With over 43'000 employees, SGS operates a network of almost 1’000 offices and laboratories around the world.
