MEI Online: Analytical Techniques & Applied Mineralogy: Awards: The Mineralogical Society Senior Travel Bursary |
|
:: The Mineralogical Society Senior Travel Bursary A fund of total £2,000 is available each year for the purpose of supporting research by qualified researchers (of any age) through their attendance of conferences, encouraging international collaboration, and funding essential fieldwork. Applications are invited for a number of travel bursaries which are to be awarded by the Society. These are in addition to the postgraduate student travel bursaries awarded to young researchers. The purpose of these new awards is to support academic work by: allowing attendance at overseas conferences and meetings; encouraging international collaboration, involving research of high merit; or supporting fieldwork. Applications, giving details of the proposed trip (including estimated total cost and any other support anticipated), should be received by the Executive Secretary by 20 January 2006 They will be vetted on the basis of likely academic benefits by a sub-committee of Council. The award(s) will be made annually and the sum available will be £2000, accruing to the fund each year. Ordinarily, bursaries will be limited to a maximum of £500 or 50% of the total cost of a visit (whichever is smaller). An individual will not normally receive more than one award every three years. Applications are welcomed from any qualified researcher. The Society reserves the right to make no awards. Members of Council will not be eligible for the award.
