:: BioHeapTM Study  

A prefeasibility study of the exploitation of low-grade nickel deposits in Western Australia has shown that Titan Resources NL's proprietary BioHeapTM bacterial leaching process is economic. The study investigated the use of BioHeapTM to extract nickel and copper from low-grade ore at the Radio Hill nickel-copper mine, plus that at the Mt Sholl deposit, located nearby.

Titan's findings indicate that the process can "significantly reduce the capital and operating costs" of operations treating such mineralisation, and can help produce metal from deposits that "otherwise would not be viable using traditional metallurgical processes".

Titan will not, however, use BioHeapTM to exploit the two deposits, as it considers that they are unsuitable as the first commercial application of the technique. The company is instead to focus on the development of the Can-Boyd Rocks and Widgiemooltha North deposits.
