:: New Skega Ecoline Lifting Bars Reduce Costs for Ceramic Mill Operators

Grinding mill operators can save money and reduce waste by using the new Skega Ecoline lifter bars. Design breakthroughs mean that the new system offers further enhancements to Metso Minerals' proven technology for batch and continuous grinding mills.

One of the key innovations in the new Skega Ecoline system is that the rubber lifting bar can be easily separated from the aluminium attachment profile. A detachable fixing system allows it to be replaced when it eventually wears out.

The alumina profile can then be fitted with a new rubber bar ready to resume work. Reusing the alumina profile gives a significant cost saving and reduces the amount of waste compared to earlier bonded systems where both alumina and rubber had to be replaced together.

Ecoline has been developed with both economy and the environment in mind, drawing on the expertise in plates and lifter bars which has been proved in more than 1500 installations worldwide. The eco-friendly policy includes the manufacture of the new range, which minimizes the use of solvents.

The Skega system is tailor-made to each installation and is quick to install and easy to replace. The lifter bars are delivered in standard lengths to be cut during installation. A full range of profiles and sizes is available. Bars are 1760mm long with widths of 140mm and 100mm and heights from 85mm to 135mm to suit different applications. The width, height and spacing of the Ecoline lifting bar can be matched with suitable plate thicknesses to produce optimum performance in any situation.

The new Ecoline system also features a tighter joint design. The detachable aluminium profile allows the rubber to be compressed during installation, minimizing the risk of underpacking.

Even the fixing system can be salvaged and reused in due course. When the components eventually wear out, they can be easily separated for recycling.

Use of the new system can reduce lining weights by up to 75% and noise by up to 50% compared with other non-polymeric lining materials. And once installed, Skega mill lining components require a minimum of supervision and repair - which increases the mill’s availability. Linings using the Skega Polymax compound enjoy a superior length of life.
