:: JKTech in Collaboration with Metso Minerals

JKTech Pty Ltd - the technology transfer company for the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre (JKMRC) and other centers of the Sustainable Minerals Institute at The University of Queensland - has entered into a collaboration agreement with the Metso Minerals Process Technology Group - the process technology arm of the parent global equipment manufacturer - for the provision of specialist ore characterization services.

JKTech carries out a range of metallurgical tests for its global minerals industry customers from its Brisbane JKMetLab facility. JKTech has specialist expertise in ore characterization, particularly in the area of ore breakage and performs a number of proprietary and other test protocols. The JK Drop Weight Test is an industry standard for use in characterizing the breakage properties of ore under autogenous and semiautogenous grinding conditions.

Metso Minerals Process Technology carries out a range of optimization studies for its global customers. This collaboration agreement will strengthen Metso’s capability in determining breakage parameters through direct access to the JKMetLab in Brisbane. In addition, Metso Minerals Process Technology will offer the JK breakage characterization service at its facility in Sorocaba, Brazil. This Drop Weight Tester will be the only JK authorised tester in Brazil.

Together with the JKMRC’s ongoing research activities and its industry partners, JKTech will continue to enhance its ore characterization technology.
