:: In-pit Crushing is a Cost Effective Solution

Northern Ireland quarry operator Bovile-McMullan has demonstrated its belief in the benefits of in-pit crushing with the purchase of three Nordberg LT Series track-mounted mobile crushing plants.

Three Nordberg LT Series mobile crushing plants have enabled a family-owned aggregates producer to embark on an ambitious development programme at its 39 hectare basalt quarry in Ballymena, Northern Ireland.

Supplied by Metso Minerals (UK) Ltd, the Nordberg crushers are at the heart of a new in-pit crushing operation at Boville-McMullan Limited's Tully Quarry where the production of high quality aggregates is now almost 300,000 tonnes per year.

The new equipment comprises an LT110 crushing plant with a jaw crusher, equipped with a pedestal-mounted hydraulic hammer for reducing the size of oversize material; and two LT's with cone crushers – a LT300GP and LT300HP – that perform secondary and tertiary crushing duties.

All three machines feature fuel-efficient Caterpillar engines and offer the added benefit of a remote control facility, removing the need for a full time operator.
