A replacement crushing and screening line at Codelco's Chuquicamata mine will boost crushing and screening throughput by 600 t/h. The new line comprises one Nordberg MP1000 secondary crusher and three Nordberg F900 screens, all produced by Metso Minerals. According to Metso, its MP crushers produce up to twice the crushing capacity per crushing station compared with other models.

The MP crushers feature a rotating bowl, automatic tramp release and a large, unrestricted feed opening. According to Metso, an important consideration in selecting the MP1000 is the fact that it is designed to fit onto a Symons T cone-crusher foundation, which eliminates the need for significant modification to the existing plant and foundations.
