:: CVRD Takes Record-Breaker from Twiflex Twiflex is supplying the world's largest modular braking system for a SAG mill to CVRD's Sossego copper mine in Brazil. The brakes form part of Metso's order for a gearless drive on the 11.6x7 m/38'x23 long mill. This is the first time such a modular system has been used on a grinding mill. UK based Twiflex says its new modular brakes suit duties in such powerful mills, which can be rated at up to 20 MW. The Sossego order includes four Twiflex VMS-DP calipers, brake pedestals, hydraulic power units and a control panel. The firm has supplied similar (but smaller) braking systems to the Telfer mine in Australia and the Collahuasi operation in Chile. © World Mining Equipment 2004
