8th International Symposium on Fine Grinding and Dispersing
From 13th to 14th October 2016, the Institute for Particle Technology of the Technische Universität Braunschweig was welcoming about 50 participants to the 8th International Symposium on Fine Grinding and Dispersing in Braunschweig, Germany. Within these two days researchers, industry experts, mill manufacturers and operators from more than 15 countries and 4 different continents were presenting and discussing their newest results.
A variety of presentations was covering the up-to-date topics in fine grinding and dispersing technology. The Symposium started with sessions on the enhancement of stirred media mill operations as well as several wet grinding and dispersing applications from different sectors like the food, polymer and lithium-ion battery industry. A further focus of this event was on dry fine grinding processes especially of minerals whereby both dry operated stirred media mills and air jet mills were discussed in a number of presentations. Furthermore, several new designs of mills, dispersing devices and analysis methods as well as innovative approaches regarding particle breakage characterization were presented and discussed.
In the exhibitor area different companies like Netzsch, Hosokawa Alpine, Bühler, Sugino and Sympatec were presenting some of their newest products. Hereby, they offered the opportunity to discuss possible process solutions and analysis options. During a dinner together in the heart of the historic center of Braunschweig conversations were deepened and valuable contacts were made.
“The Symposium was a great success”, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Arno Kwade, director of the Institute of Particle Technology, said. “It covered a wide range of fine grinding and dispersing processes as well as applications and was very rich in interesting and informative discussions. Especially, the event gave excellent possibilities for all participants to establish, maintain and intensify contacts between manufacturers, research institutes and users from many different industries.”
The 9th International Symposium on Fine Grinding and Dispersing will take place in Braunschweig in October 2018. For interested participants an additional seminar on grinding and dispersing with stirred media mills will be organized by the Institute for Particle Technology prior to the symposium.
