:: Results of Sherridon Samples Encouraging
Toronto's Halo Resources is encouraged by the results of metallurgical tests conducted on samples from its Sherridon copper-zinc property 70 km northeast of Flin Flon. Copper and zinc recoveries in batch cleaner flotation tests were in the range of 85% to 88%.
Composite samples from the Cold Lake (1.27% Cu and 3.42% Zn) and Lost Lake (1.22% Cu and 4.48% Zn) zones underwent testing. They were subjected to a primary grind of 80% passing 95 microns, and the liberation of sphalerite and chalcopyrite was found to be very good for recovery of separate copper and zinc rougher concentrates. Three stages of cleaning were followed by regrinding. Concentrate grades of 26.5% to 28.0% Cu and 25% to 31% Zn were achieved. After the flowsheet is optimized, the zinc concentrate is expected to average more than 50% Zn.
Halo's Sherridon VMS property includes the former Sherridon mine operated by Sherritt Gordon Mines from 1933 to 1950. Halo has a land position of 20,876 ha that includes six other known deposits and mineral occurrences.
