:: Olympus Pacific's Bong Mieu Gold Mine Begins Producing
Following the successful commissioning of Olympus Pacific Minerals Bong Mieu gold mine in December, the company is already ramping up from 500 tonnes per day to 800 tonnes per day in the first half of this year.
The mine is located in central Vietnam near the port city of Danang.
Mine commissioning was undertaken by Australian specialist process engineers and designers and manufactures of modular mine processing equipment Gekko Systems.
The immediate ramp up in ore processing will be to take advantage of the high gold price and maximise the mine’s initial cash flow.
Provisions for further expansion in plant capacity have been incorporated within existing plant design.
Conceptual studies are now in progress to investigate the feasibility of underground production from an adjacent high-grade zone. If feasible, the Bong Mieu plant capacity may be further expanded to accommodate increased production at a (blended) head-grade substantially above the current open-pit ROM (run of mine) grade.
