:: Lake Shore Restarts Bell Creek Mill
Lake Shore Gold of Toronto has begun processing development ore at its Bell Creek mill in Timmins. The target is to produce 30,000 oz of gold in 2009 and 100,000 oz in 2010.
Lake Shore refurbished the Bell Creek mill and trucks ore from its Timmins West mine 40 km to the southwest. Bell Creek is a conventional gold plant operating at 800 t/d. The reopened mill poured its first gold on Dec. 31, 2008, as part of a test run. It is now treating stockpiled development ore on an intermittent basis, but will run more continuously as the year goes on and deliveries from the mine increase.
