:: AMEC Minproc Awarded Next Phase for Ban Houayxai Project
Leading engineering and project delivery business AMEC Minproc, a subsidiary of AMEC, has been awarded the detailed engineering and procurement services contract for PanAust Limited’s Ban Houayxai, 4Mt/a gold-silver project in Laos.
The award follows the successful completion of the definitive feasibility study by AMEC Minproc’s Brisbane office in February 2010, and the recent PanAust board approval for full development of the Ban Houayxai mineral resource. AMEC Minproc President, Malcolm Brown, said the Brisbane office is pleased to be moving to the next phase of the Ban Houayxai project. “This award is recognition of a strong performance during the study phases, as well as the company’s extensive experience in the delivery of gold projects over the last 30 years," Mr Brown said.
The plant design is a 4Mt/a SAG / Ball circuit with carbon in leach (CIL) process. AMEC Minproc Brisbane has been working closely with PanAust / Phu Bia Mining over the last few months, concentrating on process engineering design and long lead equipment specifications production, to enable early tender of the long lead equipment. The Ban Houayxai project is targeting commissioning completion by December 2011, with steady state gold production expected in March of 2012.
