:: Newcrest's Telfer Project
The Newcrest Telfer Project's gravity gold strategy was originally based around recovering their free gold from the primary milling circuits. However the high proportion of gold reporting to the Flash Flotation concentrate necessitated a rethink of their gravity circuit.
After supplying much of the Telfer project's automatic sampling requirements (including the dual stream Heath and Sherwood Linear Sampler with ICE), ConSep were approached by site to assist with optimization of their gravity gold recovery circuit.
After discussion with Newcrest staff, it was determined that a 30inch, KC-CD30 model Knelson which was part of the old Telfer circuit, would be refurbished by ConSep and recommissioned to trial this units capability to recover the fine free gold reporting to the Flash Flotation Concentrate.
This installation was immediantly successful and Newcrest Mining have now purchased two more KC-XD30 eXtreme Duty Knelson Concentrators to be installed into the same Flash Flotation Concentrate duty.
