:: Outokumpu Technology win a Large Pelletizing Plant Order from Brazil and Open an Engineering Office in Belo Horizonte

Outokumpu Technology has been granted another large iron ore pelletizing plant contract in Brazil. The company has agreed with Minerações Brasileiras Reunidas (MBR), owned jointly by CVRD and Mitsui, upon the delivery of basic and detail engineering of an induration furnace, including green pelletizing and screening, for a pelletizing plant to be built in Vargem Grande, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The MBR plant will be the 12th pelletizing plant in Brazil using Outokumpu's traveling grate technology. Once operational in early 2008 the plant will produce 7 million tonnes per year iron ore pellets.

Outokumpu Technology announced in November 2005 its largest-ever deal with Samarco. Both of these Brazilian plants, Samarco and MBR, will use the same technology and be equal in size. "For the local engineering and implementation of these large pelletizing plant projects Outokumpu Technology has established a new engineering office in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The office currently employs over 200 engineers and specialists", says Tapani Järvinen, President and CEO of Outokumpu Technology and continues: "Our aim is to fully utilize our international resources and the synergies of these two giant ore agglomeration projects."
