:: GRD Minproc to Deliver Engineering work for the Pedra de Ferro Project in Brazil

Engineering and project delivery company GRD Minproc, a subsidiary of GRD Limited has added to the company’s established and increasing footprint in the iron ore sector with the award of the basic engineering design work (FEL3) for Bahia Mineração Limitada’s Pedra de Ferro project in Brazil.

The work will be undertaken by GRD Minproc’s Belo Horizonte office. Bahia Mineração Limitada (BML) is a joint venture between Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation (ENRC) and Zamin BM NV. BML is developing the Pedra de Ferro project in the state of Bahia in north eastern Brazil. The project will involve the construction of an open pit mine and concentrator to produce 15 million tonnes of iron ore concentrate per year.

GRD Minproc will prepare the engineering design for the concentration plant which consists of crushing, grinding, magnetic separation, flotation and associated mine site infrastructure. GRD Limited Group Chief Executive Cliff Lawrenson said the Pedra de Ferro project was being undertaken by a quality client and allowed GRD Minproc to add value through its expertise in the large concentrators required for the production of concentrate from magnetite ore.
