:: Titan Rejoins Ranks of Nickel Producers with First Ore from Armstrong Mine
Western Australian nickel company Titan Resources NL (ASX: TIR) has commenced nickel production at its first mining operation in the Widgiemooltha region of Western Australia with the first delivery of nickel sulphide ore from its 100%-owned Armstrong mine.
The ore was delivered to WMC Resources Ltdís Kambalda Nickel Concentrator on 15 and 16 October 2004. The delivery was in accord with the previously announced production schedule.
Mr Jeff Gresham, Titanís Managing Director, said: "This is an historic day for Titan as we have now rejoined the ranks of Australian nickel producers. We see this as the start of long-term and profitable mining from our highly prospective tenements in the Widgiemooltha region."
The Armstrong open pit is planned to produce 126,000 tonnes at 1.78% nickel between October 2004 and February 2005. This will be followed by production from the proposed underground mine, the development of which is scheduled for commencement in December 2004.
