:: Construction of New Diamond Processing Plant Underway

Blina Diamonds NL has signed a contract for the construction of a new Dense Media Separation plant for processing exploration bulk samples, initially from its Terrace 5 exploration project in Western Australia.

The contract with Mine Plant Construction Pty Ltd is for construction of a 50 tonne per hour dense media separation (DMS) plant, to be located near the Pit 61 bulk sampling site on the Terrace 5 palaeo-channel. The Plant will be constructed in Darwin and transported to Blina's tenements ready for use by April 1, 2005.

Blina is planning to process about 40,000 tonnes of gravel to recover sufficient diamonds to establish a run of mine valuation for the Terrace 5 production. Blina will collect two 20,000-tonne gravel samples from Terrace 5. One of these will be from around the old Pit 61 site, where a previous sample produced grades of 9.8 carats per hundred tonnes; the other will be from near the Pit 67 site, where grades of 6.1 carats per hundred tonne were previously recorded.

In addition to producing 2,000 to 3,000 carats of diamonds for valuation purposes, the samples will provide Blina with a much better understanding of diamond distribution within the palaeo-channel system. It is anticipated that this sampling program will provide the company with the data necessary to determine whether commercial mining of the Terrace 5 gravels can proceed.
