:: DEM Solutions Opens Access to Online DEM Literature Database

 

Extensive Digital Library Contains Over 3000 Abstracts of Published Papers on Discrete Element Method (DEM) Simulation Technology

DEM Solutions, the company setting the standard for engineering application of discrete element method (DEM) simulation, announces the world’s first online DEM Literature Database - an extensive, searchable online library of abstracts of peer-reviewed papers on the development and application of Discrete Element Method (DEM) simulation for modeling bulk particle processes.

“EDEM customers and academic users have been benefiting from this valuable resource for some time," stated Dr John Favier, CEO of DEM Solutions. “However, with growing interest in deploying DEM simulation across many of the manufacturing and process industries, we wanted to open up access to non-customers as well in order to foster innovation and new application areas."

The DEM Literature Database currently includes abstracts of over 3000 papers - searchable by title, author, keywords, publisher and year of publication, including links to publication sources, where the full-text papers can be obtained. This valuable resource includes papers published from 2001 through early 2013 and will be updated regularly as new papers are made available. Dr Favier added, “We want to make it much easier for those in commercial R&D and academic research to find out about the latest DEM developments, as well as to locate previous studies using similar methodology or addressing the same engineering challenges. Visitors can follow the work of thousands of DEM researchers over the last decade or explore the progression of DEM deployment within an industry vertical or engineering discipline."

Bibliographic references in the DEM Literature Database include papers where commercially available DEM software, such as EDEM®, was deployed, as well as open-source DEM software and in-house DEM code. Also included are papers describing multi-physics solutions, such as DEM-CFD, DEM-MBD, DEM-FEM, and DEM-EMAG co-simulation.

As a pioneer in the commercial application of DEM, DEM Solutions has played a key role in the adoption of DEM simulation-based design across a wide range of manufacturing and process industries, including pharmaceutical, food processing, consumer packaged goods, mining, minerals processing, metals manufacturing, and construction and agricultural machinery. The DEM Literature Database brings the very latest DEM research and examples of industrial application of DEM technology to a wider engineering and research community. The DEM Literature Database provides links to a solid foundation of DEM reference works to meet the needs of industry and academia across industry sectors and engineering disciplines.
