Imhoflot pneumatic flotation differs from conventional flotation as the bubble-particle contact takes place in high energy aerators prior to froth separation. The separation cell has no moving parts and can be designed in two configurations with a vertical inlet (V-Cell) or tangential G-Cell. The vertical cell incorporates a variable froth crowder for effective cleaning. The G-Cell imparts centrifugal action reducing residence time to around 30 seconds. For difficult minerals the size of plant and infrastructure is significantly reduced, as demonstrated by recent construction of a 600 t/h iron ore plant using IMF 45 cells. Screening in the fine particle range of 50-200 microns is achievable with low cost precision using Rotaspiral fine screens.

Development of the unique Steel Belt Filter has approached the filtration process with integral vacuum and steel mesh mechanisms.
