AKZONOBEL AkzoNobel is proud to be one of the world's leading industrial companies. Based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, we make and supply a wide range of paints, coatings and specialty chemicals. In fact, we are the largest global paints and coatings company. As a major producer of specialty chemicals we supply industries worldwide with quality ingredients for life's essentials. We think about the future, but act in the present. We're passionate about introducing new ideas and developing sustainable answers for our customers. That's why our 60,000 employees - who are based in more than 80 countries - are committed to excellence and delivering Tomorrow's Answers TodayTM. AkzoNobel Mining We are at the forefront of the advanced colloid and surface chemistry upon which successful flotation and pelletization depends. Our company develops and manufactures flotation chemicals, both collectors and depressants, and organic binders for iron ore agglomeration. Collectors We develop and produce cationic, nonionic, anionic and amphoteric collectors. The fields we are working with are calcite (removal of graphite and/or silicates), apatite (especially ores containing calcite or dolomite), potash (both direct and reversed flotation of potash) and iron ore (removal of silicates and/or apatite). Depressants Minerals depressed with CMC are mainly talc in nickel and platinum group metal (PGM-) ores and clay in potash ores. AkzoNobel Functional Chemicals produces a large variety of CMC products differing in molecular weight, charge and purity. We select the best DEPRAMINTM grades in cooperation with customers or develop dedicated products with special functionalities when necessary. Pelletization While for the agglomeration of iron ore pellets bentonite is considered as a standard for a long time, PERIDURTM is used more and more as an organic binder. PERIDURTM does not contaminate the fired pellets with extra gangue like bentonite does and saves money in the reduction- and iron making process.
