:: MIST Announces Seventh Call for Proposals

The Mineral Industry Sustainable Technology Programme (MIST) has announced its seventh call for proposals for research and development projects on environmental aspects of UK minerals industries. The call opened on 25th November 2008 with a deadline for submission of proposals by 17th December 2008. Full call documentation, application forms and programme terms and conditions can be found on the pages on this website.

MIST is a programme operated with funding from the Aggregate Levy Sustainability Fund (ALSF). The programme is open to both public and private sector organisations including commercial organisations, academic institutions, public sector agencies and associations.

Projects are to be delivered in England. MIST will provide a minimum funding of 50% of total eligible project costs. Proposals are invited in seven theme areas;

  • Impact of quarrying on the water environment.
  • Dust, noise and vibration.
  • Transport
  • Planning and assessment of quarrying.
  • Optimising efficiency of primary aggregate production.
  • Sustainable utilisation of quarry 'by-products'.
  • Creating environmental improvements.

MIST is managed by the Mineral Industry Research Organisation (MIRO) on behalf of DEFRA.
