Book Description
The Metals and Environment Symposium was to provide a forum for the review, discussion and informed debate of the environmental issues related to the production, use, recycle or disposal of metals, from national and international perspectives. The four themes of the Symposium, which are the subject of the papers in the Proceedings Volume, were:

-National and International Environmental Protection Measures -- An Operational Framework for the Metal Producing Industries; -Dealing with Releases from Metal Industries: Sources of Metals to the Environment Released During Production and/or Combustion; -Metal Commodities and Products; and -Resolving Metals Issues -- The Way Ahead

The Proceedings Volume presents the environmental protection framework in which the metals industries operate; a perspective on trace metal releases from natural and anthropogenic activities; a review of the challenges in maintaining continued open access to markets; and an outline of important areas of future environmental focus and effort for the metals industries.
