Tailings and Mine Waste ’04 Over 140 participants attended with representation from 8 countries including the U.S. There were a total of 19 exhibitors. Three short courses were offered on the Sunday prior to the conference on the topics of "Treatment of Mining Influenced Water," "Unsaturated Seepage and Contaminant Transport Modeling Made Easy," and "Alternative Covers for Mine Waste Containment." Technical papers were presented on the topics of:
A hard-back Proceedings was published: ISBN # 04 1535 939 2 by Balkema, a subsidiary of Taylor & Francis Group plc. In addition to the Technical Papers, keynote speaker, James Herron, presented an historical over-view of mining in the state of Colorado. On Wednesday, following the technical presentations, some participants enjoyed a very interesting tour of the Climax Molybdenum Mine at Climax, Colorado. Next year’s conference on Tailings and Mine Waste was announced to be held October 2-5, 2005.
