:: Grant Win for Gas Dispersion and Flotation Cell Characterisation Project An arm of the P9 suite of projects (see General News) has received a boost with James Finch and Cesar Gomez from McGill University being given the go ahead under a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) grant to further develop a range of sensors to measure various physical properties and hydrodynamic conditions in mineral flotation cells. The flotation gas dispersion team at McGill has conducted 15 campaigns on five continents in the last three years and is becoming an acknowledged world leader in this technology. In particular, the Mineral Processing group at McGill has been developing sensors to measure aspects of hydrodynamics and other cell parameters, namely bubble size, gas holdup and gas rate per unit cell cross-sectional area. This application is to further develop, validate and transfer the technologies to industry.
