:: Technological Excellence Award for Multotec Company

Technical expertise and excellence has always been a differentiating factor for Multotec within the minerals beneficiation and mining sector. And this was underscored at the Gauteng Exporter of the Year Awards ceremony in October 2005 when Multotec Process Equipment received the Technological Excellence Award from the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI).

"Being recognised publicly for technical excellence is certainly an accolade, and especially so because reaching and maintaining this level is not a simple process," Johan Engelbrecht, managing director of Multotec Process Equipment, says.

"It is through the consistent investment in technology and resources that we have been able to maintain our technical prowess in this highly competitive industry," Engelbrecht says.

"Receipt of this award also underpins our philosophy of employing highly qualified individuals." A total of 17 process engineers are amongst the staff who attend to technical and customer related issues on behalf of the company.

Engelbrecht says that in addition to receiving the Technical Excellence Award, the company was also a finalist in the medium company category for the 2005 Gauteng Exporter of the Year competition.

According to a spokesman for the JCCI, the 2005 Gauteng Exporter of the Year Awards competition uncovered an incredibly diverse range of Gauteng exporters who prove that innovation, technological excellence and service quality can overcome the challenges presented by a volatile exchange rate, and the great distance between the tip of Africa and the established markets of the world.

The Gauteng Exporter of the Year Awards for 2005 was judged on export growth figures for the last three years up to February 2005. Engelbrecht says that he is confident that Multotec Process Equipment will achieve a higher standing in this category in 2006 as the company has realised a significant growth within the export sector during the last nine months. He says that this trend is set to continue into 2006.
