:: Bateman Engineering Expands into India

Bateman Engineering has announced that it has established an operational office in Bangalore, India, further expanding its global network of offices spanning Africa, Europe, Australasia and North America.

The office will provide a diverse offering of services, process technology and products to be imported to, generated in and exported from India. Two legal entities have been established, Bateman Projects (India) Private Limited, which will be responsible for all work for Indian projects as well as export of Indian material and equipment, and Bateman Engineering (India) Private Limited, which will export design packages in electronic format to Bateman Engineering projects outside India.

The senior management team appointed to the new office bring with them extensive experience gained working for a combination of well-known Indian and multinational companies, either in the minerals and metals industry or in sectors closely related to Bateman Engineering's multidisciplinary project activities.

Commenting on the opening of the new office, Dr Sivi Gounden, CEO of Bateman Engineering, said: "The past two years has seen a significantly increased exposure of the Bateman Engineering group to Indian companies pursuing projects both within India and on other continents, as well as to Indian suppliers and fabricators of equipment, material and engineering design services. Hence the decision to open an office in this important and growing regional market is in line with our global growth aspirations. This will also ensure that relationships already established with leading Indian companies, such as the Birla, IMFA/UMSL, MOIL, Tata and Vedanta groups, will continue to be strengthened, and new relationships will be developed with other major Indian producers of minerals and metals products. In addition, a number of contracts and formal agreements are already in place with Indian technology suppliers and equipment fabricators, once again providing real potential for growth."
