AMIRA is pleased to welcome the following new members:

  • French based power group AREVA NC
  • Turkish miner Cayeli Bakir Isletmeieri A.S.
  • Canadian oil sands producer Total E&P

AREVA is an integrated nuclear energy group with a worldwide market and activities ranging from uranium mining and processing, through power production to reprocessing and recycling of spent fuel. In joining AMIRA it has also become a significant supporter of P924, AMSRI.

Cayeli Bakir Isletmeieri A.S operates a copper/zinc gold property in Turkey and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Inmet Mining Corporation of Canada which also has operations in Finland, Canada and Papua New Guinea.

As a new member Total E&P expands the membership base in the oil sands industry, joining Syncrude and Shell Energy Canada, with interest being expressed in P266F, Improving Thickener Technology and other process related projects.

AMIRA Africa has moved office from Lonehill to central Johannesburg. The address is:

Telephone: +27 11 498 7649 South Africa

Richard Beck, AMIRAs Regional Manager, Africa, said the new location was close to the offices of several major mining companies who are among the most significant participants in AMIRA projects and would position AMIRA to be closer to these and other members in the area.
