:: JKTech Officially Launches South American Office

The JKTech South American office, based in Santiago, has now officially been opened!

UQ’s Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Peter Høj and the Chief Executive Officer of JKTech, Dr Dan Alexander, officially announced the opening of the Santiago office during a recent visit to Chile.

‘As a research-intensive University among the world’s top 100 universities, it makes sense for UQ to work closely with industry to ensure our discoveries make it to the coalface sooner, so the benefits of good research are being felt even earlier than before’, Professor Høj said. ‘This is particularly important in mining as we strive to seek greater solutions for safety, process efficiency and operational improvements in Chile, and in mining regions across the world’, he said.

Dr Alexander mentioned that mining companies can reap significant rewards from using the world-class methodologies from UQ, commercialised through JKTech. He provided an example of a local operation just recently improving the metal output by 9% after a project with JKTech specialists. ‘Establishing an office in this region means that JKTech will be able to provide its high-quality process optimisation and ore characterisation services from a local base, ensuring timely and efficient client support. South American personnel will also have better access to the global JKTech network of experts through the Santiago office’.

Dr Alexander also thanked the major mining companies in Chile for their ongoing support of JKTech in the region.
