:: Minerals Engineering BEE Alliance Unveiled
Engineering services contractor Ferroman and minerals process engineering and project management specialist Metallurgical Design and Management (MDM) have agreed a partnership, which is believed to create South Africa's first black empowered engineering services provider to the mining industry.
Ferroman, itself an empowered partnership uniting engineering services giant Ferrostaal AG of Germany and Johannesburg-based South to South, will hold 30% of the venture.
The partnership will allow MDM to grow its already considerable international reach and give it access to Ferroman's skills and technologies in additional specialised areas while allowing Ferroman to further consolidate its presence in African markets.
MDM is an acknowledged leader in the execution of turnkey projects for the processing of gold and industrial minerals, including wide experience in the fields of base metals and gemstones.
The company has completed projects in most African countries.
Ferroman, with its majority shareholder Ferrostaal, is active in the turnkey engineering, procurement and construction of facilities for the steel, aluminium and other processing industries and for the conversion of gases, oil, and similar products from project development over finance facilitation through to commissioning and training.
While formalities are being concluded, cooperation on joint projects in a number of countries managed from South Africa has already begun.
