The present symposium is the fourth in the UBC-McGill Symposium Series, which was initiated in 1995 jointly by the mineral engineering groups of the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, British Columbia, and McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and held once every two years at the annual Conference of Metallurgists. This volume is the proceedings of papers presented in Toronto August 26-29, 2001. It is composed of 34 papers from 13 countries, organized under the following titles: mineral processing parameters (7 papers), sulfide flotation (11), non-sulfide flotation, flocculation, and rheology (3), basic research (7), and comminution, mineralogy, and expert system (6). The volume is well produced and includes author and subject indexes. Just a minor comment: the editors are still using under lined journal titles although Italics could have been more attractive.
