Canadian Mineral Processors 35th Annual Operators Conference
Ottawa, Canada, January 21-23, 2003

The Canadian Mineral Processors Division (CMP), celebrated their 35th anniversary as a Technical Division of CIM at their Annual Operators Conference. Chairman Jan Nesset welcomed the 315 delegates to the meeting, noting that they came from many parts of the world. Among countries represented were, Canada, United States, Mexico, Chile, Iran, Greece, Australia, Finland, Tunisia and the United Kingdom . Jan highlighted the involvement of sponsored university undergraduate students, and technical school students as well as the excellent technical program, consisting of 44 papers compiled by Steve Wilson of Inco Ltd.

Technical Sessions and respective Session Chairs were:
Session 1 Operations I - Alain Bouchard, Inco Ltd., Clarabelle Mill
Session 2 - Industrial Minerals Bern Klein, UBC.
Session 3 - Operations II Colin Hardie, Noranda-Falconbridge, Raglan.
Session 4 - Applied Mineralogy - Norm Lotter, Noranda-Falconbridge, FTC.
Session 5 - Control and Simulation - Marc Grondin, Metso Minerals.
Session 6 - Advancing Technology - Jacques Boivin, COREM

Later on Tuesday evening, Jan Nesset hosted the always lively Chairmans Reception in the Les Saisons Room at the Westin Hotel.

Jennifer Abols, Technical Program Chairman for 2003/2004 issued the 1st Call For Papers for the 36th Annual Canadian Mineral Processors Operators Conference to be held January 20-22, 2004, in Ottawa, Ontario.
