International Seminar: Review of the Agenda: New Initiatives in the Mining Sector
Santiago, Chile, May 8-9, 2002

This seminar was organized by the Chilean Copper Commission (www.cochilco.cl), the Mining Council of Chile, and the University of Concepción (www.udec.cl), and it was attended by approximately 350 registrants from Chile, Canada, U.S.A., Germany, Argentina, Australia, Peru, Bolivia, Guatemala, Sweden, and others.

The objective of this seminar was to invite to governmental officers, delegates from mining companies and academia, and other associations, to expose, analyze and discuss the main aspects of the mining and the environment, in five panels:

• Public Policies and Regulatory Trends
• Mining Industry and Sustainable Development
• Health and Mining
• Technological Innovation and Clean Production
