Xth International Mineral Processing Symposium
Izmir, Turkey, 5-7 October 2004

Dokuz Eylul University Mining Engineering Department hosted this event. The general theme of the symposium was "Challenges and Opportunities in Mineral Processing"

Seven plenary lectures were presented by the following invited speakers;

• Professor S. Chander from Penn State University, USA
• Professor R. Hogg from Penn State University, USA
• Professor S. K. Kawatra from Michigan Technological University, USA
• Professor J.S. Laskowski from British Colombia University, Canada
• Professor C. L. Lin from Utah University, USA
• Professor C. T. O'Connor from Cape Town University, South Africa
• Professor S. Somasundaran from Colombia University, USA

Apart from those, 62 papers by the authors of 28 different countries (55% of the total)and 55 papers by Turkish authors (45%) were presented in three day long technical sessions.

The Symposium Proceedings book of 1056 pages, edited by professors U. Ipekoglu and A. Akar the chairpersons of the executive committee, was published and distributed to delegates.

Besides many quests, 223 Turkish and 104 foreign (32%) delegates were registered for the event.
