:: MD Mineral Technologies Expands Range

MD mineral technologies, a division of Roche Mining, has acquired the Kelsey centrifugal-jig and fine autogenous grinding (FAG) mill businesses ofGeo Logics Pty Ltd.

Under the terms of the acquisition, MD mineral technologies has assumed ownership of the intellectual property and work in progress of the two businesses. MD mineral technologies says that the integration of the new businesses with the company's existing range of technologies and services offers significant advantages to the minerals-sands industry. The company notes that the Kelsey jig has become particularly important for projects in which zircon recovery is hindered by the presence of kyanite and sillimanite. In addition, MD mineral technologies says that the recently developed Kelsey FAG mill can be applied to the grinding of zircon. The company says that initial tests have produced a product with the specification p»o of 10 microns (50% of the product passes through a 10 micron mesh) from a feed ofp5o of 188 microns.

According to Glen Zille, the general manager of MD mineral technologies, the incorporation of the businesses into the company will "make these technologies available to a wider market through our strong representation and global marketing network."
