International Solvent Extraction Conference ISEC 2002 Proceedings
Proceedings can be ordered from: The South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Review: The conference was held in Cape Town, S. Africa from 17 to 21 March 2002 and was organized by the ISEC 2002 South Africa Organizing Committee chaired by Philip Lloyd who also wrote the Forward to the Proceedings. The conference was supported by the S. African Chemical Institute, the S. African Institution of Chemical Engineers, and the S. African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. It is the eighteenth such conferences. The first was held in 1962 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The proceeding comprises 222 papers by 600 authors from 34 countries. The papers were refereed by 100 specialists. They cover a wide variety of areas:
In addition there are 6 plenary lectures which covered a vast area of solvent extraction theory and practice. The proceedings are therefore an important contribution to the literature of solvent extraction and will be under intensive study by professionals and researchers for many years to come. The contribution of the Organizing Committee and the different collaborating institutions to hold this conference and produce this gigantic work is no doubt a huge effort that deserves lots of thanks. The next conference ISEC 2005 will be held in Beijing, China September 19-23, 2005.
