International Biohydrometallurgy Symposium (IBS) 2019
The International Biohydrometallurgy Symposium (IBS) is the biannual global conference on biohydrometallurgy, bioremediation, and the related subjects. These sciences and technologies have a high potential to establish environmentally-favorable processes in mining industries for the recovery of base/precious metals from primary/secondary resources including urban mines, and for the remediation of exploited mining sites. Any other industries dealing with metals and metalloids can also benefit from advances in biohydrometallurgy.
Considering the above aspects, IBS has been the best platform to meet with microbiologists, engineers, and geochemists as well as mining experts together to discuss the latest scientific and technological trends since 1977. IBS 2019 is upholding the slogan “Biohydrometallurgy for Resources, Energy and Environments toward the Future Earth.” Academics, students, researchers, practitioners as well as representatives of industry and institutions are invited to discuss their research, develop new concepts, exchange information about innovations and best practice cases.
IBS 2019 will be held in Fukuoka. This is the first time to organize IBS in Japan. Fukuoka prefecture was used to be the center of coal mining industries. In 1911, the College of Engineering, Kyushu Imperial University (former Department of Earth Resources Engineering, Kyushu University) was established as an academic home to support the mining industry.
We wish that all attendants enjoy the historical flair of the city where the mining industry was used to be prosperous, together with state-of-the-art science and industry.
We also invite you to attend as an exhibitor or sponsor to promote your products, technologies, experimental equipment, and services and meet experts from all over the world.
Finally, we would like to acknowledge the Japan Society of the Promotion of Science (JSPS) for supporting The Mining and Materials Processing Institute of Japan (MMIJ) and to organize IBS 2019 by JSPS KAKENHI Grant Number JP18HP0703.
We look forward to welcoming you in Fukuoka!
