Location: Mauritania

A Challenging Overseas Opportunity

Red Back Mining Inc is rapidly building a leading African gold producer. Red Back's two key projects are the Chirano Gold Mine in Ghana and the Tasiast Gold Mine in Mauritania. In addition, the Company holds an extensive exploration portfolio both in Ghana and Mauritania.

The Tasiast Operation is in North-Western Mauritania West Africa. Consisting of a 2.5 million tonne per annum carbon in leach treatment plant and a 4.5 million tonne dump leach.

Reporting to the Treatment Plant Manager, the above position is required to coordinate all metallurgical activities on site.

You will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating day to day metallurgical activities and monitor plant performance. Analyse operational and assay data.
  • Manage, monitor and improve the metallurgical accounting system.
  • Coach, mentor and train Metallurgical Engineers and Technicians. Set up training programs to facilitate this development.
  • Ensure site safety policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.

To be successful in this position, you will require:

  • You will have tertiary qualifications in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering.
  • 10-15 years experience in the mining industry with 5 years at a Senior Level. Significant Metallurgical technical and practical experience in gold processing, dump and heap leach operations is required along with good computer skills.
  • Previous expatriate experience is preferred.
  • A strong understanding of cross-cultural requirements in a developing country is imperative.
  • Candidates must possess extremely well developed interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to a wide range of people.

Tasiast Mauritanie Ltd S.A expatriates employees work a roster of 8 weeks on followed by 4 weeks off with travel days within the 8 weeks on , and commute from Australia or other overseas home bases. While on site employees live in a camp environment, with laundry and meal services provided by the Company.
