With combined operations comprising three shipping terminals, eleven mines and the largest heavy freight railway in Australia, the Pilbara operations produce more than 150 million tonnes of iron ore annually and are growing towards an annual production rate of 220 million tonnes. Yandicoogina is a fly in fly out operation located approximately 184km northwest of Newman, in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia. Yandi's total iron ore output has reached 50 million tonne per annum and is set to increase even further. Facilities at the mine's campsite include a gymnasium, indoor cricket pitch, swimming pool, tennis facilities, golf putting green squash courts, wet mess, dry mess and laundry facilities. The primary purpose of this role is to provide technical support and leadership for operations and maintenance staff by improving plant availability and performance, plus maximising plant throughput whilst minimising costs.
