Program Manager - Mineral Processing/Metallurgy [Jan.28, 2010] Location: Melbourne, Australia AMIRA International comprises a team of professionals dedicated to coordinating pre-competitive collaborative R&D projects on behalf of its member companies drawn from the global mineral resources industry. Offices are located in Australia, South Africa, North and South America and its current global research portfolio as of 30 June 2009 consisted of 34 projects with member funds of approximately US$63 million. AMIRA is seeking to employ a Program Manager with focus on mineral processing and metallurgy. One of the position’s key accountabilities will be to grow the mineral processing/metallurgical project portfolio. It will thus have a strong emphasis on identification and developing new ideas into collaborative projects that address the technical challenges of our members. Key activities include:
The successful applicant will have a strong background in mineral processing/metallurgy. Experience working in a plant is necessary and at corporate level desirable. The applicant must demonstrate a track record of success in influencing and creating and working with teams and the ability to establish networks among researchers and company decision-makers. The person must have the capacity to grasp technical aspects, understand the nature of problems, and to work with researchers to design R&D programs that can be marketed to members. An important part of this process is developing value propositions that can be used to highlight the benefits to prospective sponsors. The position is Melbourne-based, requiring frequent short-duration travel in Australia and abroad. The remuneration package will be negotiated in line with the past experience and achievements of the appointed person.
