RTIO's Metallurgical Development team are currently seeking applications from qualified chemists to fill the role of Specialist - Chemical Analysis. The focus of this position will be to assist RTIO laboratories manage quality assurance programs to maintain and improve the performance of chemical analysis systems.

Key accountabilities:

  • Manage quality assurance programs to ensure that chemical analyses across RTIO are performed within defined ranges of precision and accuracy.
  • Provide technical support and training to site laboratories on instrument operation, calibration and trouble shooting.
  • Manage agreements with service providers covering the operation and maintenance of analytical equipment.
  • Provide advice on the application of relevant Australian and International Standards to chemical analysis.
  • Manage projects to improve analytical processes and evaluate new technologies.

The successful candidate will be degree qualified with experience in quality assurance systems, XRF calibration and operation, and the application and development of analytical standards. Familiarity with laboratory management software and prior exposure to Iron Ore will be highly regarded.

This is a hands-on role that will rely on building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and pro-active and will make good use of their excellent negotiation and problem solving skills.
