Our Client requires a suitably qualified Contract Senior Metallurgist for a short term role that could lead into a longer term position.

The current contract on offer is for a 6 months contract on a 9 week on 4 week off roster

Job Description

Directs and coordinates activities concerning metallurgical processes and controls and metallurgical testing to ensure optimum efficiency of the operation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate/implement/oversee all metallurgical aspects of the mill operation.
  • Strong focus on training and safety of the national workforce.
  • Assemble data and prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports for operating information/environmental status/safety issues within the mill department.
  • Oversee and direct all personnel activities within the metallurgical department.
  • Supervise, direct, and train metallurgical engineers and technicians.
  • Communicate with the mill manager, metallurgical testing and operating practices that have the potential to increase production and decrease costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy.
  • 5-10 years in a supervisory role in a similar metallurgical/mining environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with crushing, grinding, classification, thickening, CIL, and tailings management.
  • Ability to analyze and understand statistical metallurgical data.
  • Computer fluency a must.
  • The ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
