Vale Inco Limited - Manitoba Operations in Thompson, Manitoba is a fully integrated mining, milling, smelting and refining facility producing more than 100 million pounds of plating grade nickel annually. We also produce copper, cobalt and other metals for use by industry.

The Project Metallurgist will contribute to the overall goals of the plant by providing technical/scientific expertise while managing technical projects

Accountabilities:

• Ensure efficient and timely completion of Projects by providing technical expertise, planning and controlling assigned resources.
• Support plant by optimizing complex metallurgical processes and developing innovative solutions to recurring problems.
• Communicate effectively with operating personnel and Management through discussions, written reports and technical presentations.
• Provide guidance and technical support to the process improvement initiatives, and act as project sponsor for engineering and capital projects (up to 0.5 millions dollars).
• Act as technical resource for others in Process Technology and plant.

Education:

The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering.

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years of related experience in metallurgical plants

Knowledge and Skills:

Registered P.Eng. designation or to be eligible for professional registration in the Province of Manitoba is preferred.
