Process Systems Technician  [Feb.15, 2010]

Location: Highland Valley Copper - Logan Lake, Canada

Highland Valley Copper is Canada’s largest base metal copper-moly mine and is owned and operated by Teck Resources. The Highland Valley Copper mine requires a: Process Systems Technician at its mining and milling operation located 300 km northeast of Vancouver, BC, Canada. The mill treats 125,000 mtpd of ore grading 0.35% copper and 0.01% molybdenum. The mill grinding section consists of three semi-autogenous and two fully autogenous grinding lines and associated ball mill – cyclone circuits. Grinding is followed by a copper-molybdenum bulk flotation circuit and then a copper-molybdenum separation circuit.

Reporting to the Process Control Engineers in the Mill Technical Development group, the Process Systems Technician will assist in developing and maintaining all components of the extensive Process Automation and Control network that extends from the Highland Mill to the Spatsum Pump house located on the Thompson River.

The successful applicant will have completed a two year Automation and Electronics Technology or Telecommunications and Networking Technology diploma or a degree program with relevant disciplines from a recognized post secondary institution. Ideally, he or she will have at least 2 years experience working in the field, and will be proficient in HMI and PLC configuration and communications, computer repair, ethernet networking and security and Windows Domain administration. Experience with the Microsoft suite of office products and database programming would be an asset.

The wage offered will be commensurate with experience and a full range of benefits including partial relocation assistance will be provided. The Highland Valley is a very attractive location, adjacent to the major urban centers of Kamloops and Vancouver and offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities such as hiking, skiing, fishing and golf.
