Location: NSW, Australia

Mount Thorley Warkworth is a large, technically challenging, multi-seam open cut coal mining operation located in the heart of the Hunter Valley . We are seeking a Process Specialist to join our Coal Handling Preparation Plant (CHPP) team. This Superintendent level position is focused on monitoring metallurgical plant performance, leading a small team and implementing processing improvements. Reporting to the CHPP Manager, your specific accountabilities include:

  • Developing, implementing and tracking process improvement projects
  • Measuring, analysing and improving metallurgical plant performance.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement in the areas of safety, cost management, process improvement and productivity
  • Managing the interface between the Process Improvement team and Production, Maintenance, other teams on site
  • Managing the process improvement budget
  • Identifying training needs of the process improvement team and ensuring training outcomes are recorded.

Essential for this role is tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy and mineral processing experience. Coal industry experience is an advantage but not essential. Base metals experience will be considered, flotation experience is essential. You will need leadership experience, plenty of initiative and the ability to effectively manage complexity.
