Senior Mill Process Metallurgist [Feb.16, 2010] Location: Logan Lake, BC, Canada Closing Date: Feb 28, 2010 Highland Valley Copper is Canada’s largest base metal copper-moly mine and is owned and operated by Teck Resources. The Highland Valley Copper mine requires: Senior Mill Process Metallurgist at its mining and milling operation located 300 km northeast of Vancouver, BC, Canada. The mill treats 125,000 mtpd of ore grading. 35% copper and 0.01% molybdenum. The mill grinding section consists of three semi-autogenous and two fully autogenous grinding lines and associated ball mill – cyclone circuits. Grinding is followed by a copper-molybdenum bulk flotation circuit and then a copper-molybdenum separation circuit. Reporting to the Superintendent, Mill Technical Development, the Senior Mill Process Metallurgist will take a leading role in the daily operation and process development in the grinding and flotation sections of the plant. A significant part of the incumbent’s time will be spent in training and mentoring junior professionals and technicians. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years experience in process development in the areas of semi-autogenous and ball mill grinding circuits and flotation. A strong background in base metal flotation is required. The applicant should have good people and project management skills to ensure the successful development and integration of process improvements. A degree or similar qualification in mineral processing is a requirement.
