Metallurgical Engineer, Lead  [Feb.16, 2010]

Location: Perth, Australia

Wardrop is seeking a senior individual to fill the role of Lead Metallurgical Engineer to be situated in the Perth (Australia) office. The Lead Metallurgical Engineer will report to the General Manager Perth and will be a strong member of the office management team.

The ideal candidate will be a Professional Engineer with a Metallurgical or Chemical engineering degree and 15-20 years of experience in engineering and operating mine beneficiation plants, consulting and mine engineering management. This is a leadership role which includes working closely with the other outstanding professionals in the group to meet current and future project requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Involvement in preparing studies and reports involving site visits and detailed engineering projects
  • Workload forecasting, staff assignment and management
  • Metallurgical engineering skills for long term growth and stability of the Perth engineering group
  • Creation and review of proposals, scope of work, hour and cost estimates
  • Project management duties for specific projects
  • Metallurgical engineering experience for a variety of mineral and processing methods;
  • Hydrometallurgical experience would be considered an asset
  • Direct previous experience in metallurgical engineering consulting
  • International experience in labour and capital intensive mining environments would be considered an asset
  • Overall responsibility for career management and professional development for the Perth Metallurgical engineering staff
  • Distribution and allocation of Metallurgical Engineering work to match the skills, experience, and availability of the metallurgical professionals
  • The Lead Metallurgical Engineer is a key part of business development, and develops client relationships.
  • Personnel management, communication and interpersonal skills are key to this position.
  • Excellent English language skills (Reading and Writing), and the ability to interface directly with client
