Process Engineer, Lead Uranium  [Feb.16, 2010]

Location: Saskatoon, Canada

Wardrop is seeking a Lead Metallurgist/Process Engineer to work in the Mining Division in our Saskatoon Office. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing engineering expertise to a variety of clients on a variety of projects. Working with our Civil, Mechanical, I&C, Structural and Electrical departments, the Metallurgist/Process Engineers support projects across Canada and internationally

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Process group in the Saskatoon office on projects both locally and internationally.
  • The position has a high level of responsibility and its varied engineering assignments require general familiarity with a broad range of engineering issues and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines/fields.
  • The Engineer solves problems by use of creative thinking and modified standard procedures, or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • The Engineer participates in planning required to achieve prescribed project and operational objectives.
  • Assist with the preparation of engineering proposals to clients.
  • The position requires the preparation of design cost estimates and upon client approval, carry out engineering investigations, studies, analysis and prepare written technical reports.
  • The ability to lead large projects is an asset. Experience with metallurgy/process plant specification, evaluation and documentation of industrial systems is required.
  • The candidate will be capable of committing to and maintaining a project timeline
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required. The ability to document and track project tasks and related design documents is required (strong organizational skills).
  • The individual must be genuinely interested in technical excellence, teamwork, mentoring and participating in the growth and technical development of a very strong and talented group of engineers and designers.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to promote and maintain client relationships and co-ordinate team activities by interfacing with clients as required.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of Metallurgist/Process Design Experience.
  • Experience in front end design, detailed engineering including process simulation, P & ID development, equipment specification and safety reviews is essential.
  • Experience in Uranium projects is essential.
  • Experience in any of the Potash, Copper, Zinc, Nickel industries are assets
  • Currently registered or eligible for registration with APEGS as a P.Eng.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management experience.
  • Strong team skills a must
  • Previous Consulting Engineering experience is desirable.
