Junior Process Engineer  [Feb.16, 2010]

BBA is an established, privately-owned Canadian provider of specialized engineering services to the energy, mining and minerals processing industries. As a result of recent growth in the mines and metals sector, an exciting opportunity exists to join the BBA team. BBA is currently seeking a Junior Process Engineer to provide high quality consulting services to its growing base of clients.

The ideal candidate must possess excellent communication, consulting, analytical and organisational skills as well as being a dedicated team player. Applicants must have at least 2 years experience in operations or working within a consulting company. Recent university graduates with relevant COOP experience are also encouraged to apply.

General Duties & Responsibilities:

• Under the supervision of a senior engineer, the candidate will work closely with a team of skilled engineers, designers and project support staff
• Selection, sizing and costing of process equipment
• Preparation of proposals, process design criteria, PFD’s, P&ID’s, plant layouts, technical specifications, technical evaluations and reports
• Development of mass and energy balances using MetSim simulation software
• Development and supervision of metallurgical test programs
• Occasional travel to domestic and international destinations

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering
• Familiar with mineral processing, hydrometallurgical and water treatment unit operations
• Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
• Dynamic, flexible and be able to work under tight deadlines
• Ability to register as a Professional Engineer (OIQ)
• Experience with Microsoft Office software
• Previous experience with Process Simulation software is an asset
• Bilingual (French, English)
